Position: Payroll Specialist

Location: Dallas, TX 75201

Term: 6 Months

Our client is seeking a Payroll Specialist for a 6 month contract opportunity in Dallas, Texas. You will be responsible for the daily administrative duties related to Payroll under limited supervision.

Responsibilities: 

  • Reviews payroll data entered into Kronos and CATS (i.e., sick time, vacation time)
  • Processes and/or reviews all transfers of payroll data to SAP
  • Independently process payroll from end to end for a number of payroll areas
  • Reviews, calculates, and proofs hours, and payroll data entry as needed
  • Verifies, employment and changes, earnings, and miscellaneous data deductions
  • Creates, generates, and compiles internal management reports using payroll system reporting software as needed
  • Process garnishments for bankruptcies, credit bureaus, child support payments, tax levies via outside 3rd party vendor (ADP).
  • Verifies payroll information for accuracy & completion as it pertains to the compliance for Sarbanes Oxley
  • Assists General Accounting in balancing a monthly payroll “other deductions” account
  • Administers payroll and timekeeping systems which may include but is not limited to password resets, adding or deleting data
  • Compiles reports and liaises with applicable department for various annual and semi-annual projects
  • Assists Payroll Team on all new software rollouts, acquisition additions, or any special projects
  • Develops and maintains payroll processing procedures
  • Assist with creation of the journal entry file generation for Accounting
  • Files and scans payroll related documents as needed
  • Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their manager, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion


Required Skills:

  • A minimum of 5 or more years of on-the-job experience required.
  • A minimum of a High School degree or equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field preferred.
  • Ability to successfully complete intermediate to advanced clerical and data entry assignments based on pre-established guidelines.
  • Intermediate skill level in MS Excel which includes but is not limited to working knowledge and use of formulas, v-look up, and other functions. 
  • Good reading skills, organizational and time management skills, detail oriented, the ability to effectively communicate with others, both written and verbal, and the ability to perform intermediate mathematical calculations.


Preferred Skills:

  • SAP, SAP CATS, ADP SmartCompliance(Tax/Garnishment), and Kronos system experience preferred.
