Job Title: Load Balancer Engineer w/automation skills

Job Location: United States, Chicago (Warrenville or Schaumburg offices in the suburbs), Atlanta, Middletown, Bothel, Dallas, St. Louis, and Alpharetta

Job Duration: 24+ months

Job Description: As a load balancer engineer, you will be responsible for performing programming tasks associated i.e. automating the deployment configurations, while replacing aging load balances architectures with newly purchased F5 load balancers. There are virtual and physical load balancers including Cisco (ACE, CSM, CSS, GSS), Radware Alteon, Brocade (ServerIron 850 and ADX 1k-10K), and F5. The load balancers are currently deployed as layer 3 to layer 7 device and will be replaced with F5’s running layer 3 to layer 7 (Physical and Virtual). In addition, you must have an ability to work independently on moderate to complex projects and manage technical issues will be required. You must also be able to work collaboratively within a small group as well as with other teams such as Product Management, Load Balancer and Network Engineers, and Service Managers.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Understanding the conversation commands at both load balancer and automation framework used to develop the conversation procedures
  • Using Ansible (preferred)/Python, and F5 BigIQ utilities perform the configuration conversions from EOL/EOS load balancers to various F5 platforms i.e. automating the deployment configurations (MoP)
  • Develop and unit test o the load balancer deployment and configuration procedures (Example, to include the removal and backup of the old EOL/EOS configuration… etc.)

o load balancer pre and post check procedures

o new F5 load balancer configuration setup

  • Integrate new tool package into current tool set
  • Create and well document new tool set after each milestone has been reached

o A “milestone” is completion of a tool package based on the load balancer type

  • Perform risk assessment associated with documented procedures
  • Assist with troubleshooting technical issues and responding to escalations as needed when related to new tool set

Required Experience:

  • 7+ years working as an Engineer in large scale enterprise network
  • 5+ years’ experience as a programming/scripting/software development engineer working with Python and newer scripting technologies
  • 5+ years’ experience with Unix/Linux based systems
  • 2+ years’ experience with API bases calls (preferably, hands-on experience using Ansible for integrations with the F5 BIG-IP API-called modules).
  • Hands-on experience in automating initial configurations on the BIG-IP like DNS, NTP etc., and Network the BIG-IP (VLANS, Self-Ips) and deployment of HTTP and HTTPS applications.
  • 2+ years’ experience with Apache
  • Proven document writing skills that are clear, concise, and easy to follow

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience working knowledge of VMWare, ESXi, Openstack, Ubuntu, and KVM
  • Previous experience working with Server Balancing or concept of how it works (F5 older technologies are OK)
  • Network automation/automated deployment experience using ansible.
  • Previous experience with VoIP related services
  • Proven project management experience with the ability to meet delivery dates on time or before with a solid product
  • Proven ability to train others

Security Certifications a real plus: N/A.

Education: BS (minimum) or MS degree in CIS, Security, Engineering, Math, Telecommunications, Sciences.
